A GENTLE UNDERSTANDIN'

BROKEN PSYLLENS is a poetry house, a living body of work guided by truth, beauty, witness, and revelation. This house is not governed by algorithms, trends, schedules, or production quotas. Works emerge as they desire to emerge. The goal is not visibility. The goal is faithfulness. BROKEN PSYLLENS is Psyllens returnin' to herself so she may pour and fill others' cups. BROKEN PSYLLENS is ministry.

Revelation is not chronological. A reader may encounter a fragment, verse, or excerpt months before encountering the full poem. Nothin' here is owed chronology. The work arrives in the order it wishes to be received.

Because there was always more to say. None of my poems were ever born from writer's block or emptiness. Every poem has simply been an intentional pause. I could have continued every single one. The absence of a period is my way of honoring that truth. 

Life does not always end neatly, and neither does revelation. Some things are still unfoldin', still breathin', still becomin'. A poem may rest, but it is rarely finished. I do not see my work as endings. I see it as places where I decided to stop speakin' for a moment. 

The period is absent because the conversation between God, myself, and the reader is still alive.

A poem is a complete literary offerin'. A verse is a complete offerin' in miniature. A fragment is a passage removed from a larger body of work. A wildflower doesn't belong to the garden, it is a standalone poem that blooms on its own, untouched by any collection.

A reflection is a deeper meditation on something witnessed. It exists to sit with meaning rather than simply observe it.

An observation is a truth noticed.

A thing witnessed.
A passing thought, question, or moment of clarity. 

A mirror is a literary reflection intended to reveal somethin' back to the reader.

It is not instruction.
It is not teachin'.
It is revelation.

Titles signify belongin'. A titled work belongs to a named collection, manuscript, or larger body of work. Fragments are released without titles. The words themselves serve as the title. If a fragment later finds its place within a collection, it may then receive a title.

Yes. Within BROKEN PSYLLENS, a poem is not always finished because it has reached its end. A poem may continue to grow. It may become another version of itself, a fragment, a verse, or part of a future collection. The work is permitted to evolve for as long as revelation continues.

Because silence is part of the language.

When a work enters a completed manuscript or collection, it returns to its capitalized form.

The capital "I" is the butterfly.

Because not every offerin' is meant to be encountered in the same way. Some writins' are meant to be passed by, while others are meant to be entered. Fragments and excerpts may be shared publicly. Full poems, collections, audio works, and other offerins' may live elsewhere within the house. A fragment is an invitation, not a withholdin'.

Mystery is permitted. Discovery is encouraged.

Nothing here is owed routine.
Nothing here is owed performance.

Only truth.
Only beauty.
Only revelation.
